cannot create project in existing folder

Trying to create a new project from an existing folder 
doesn't work with some folders. Both folders I tested 
are extensions for a CMS and have similar file 
structures.
I reverted back to 1/26 CVS and it works, later 
snapshots in January might work as well, the two 
latest February ones don't for some reason.

The problem here was that the folder I wanted to add as a 
project wasn't writable to my user, so it couldn't create
 .project and it just wouldn't do anything. Maybe adding a 
check and error message would help make the whole issue 
clearer.
